ABOUT US Gerlinger Steel & Supply Company has served the construction, precious metal and aggregate mining industries, along with water projects such as Shasta, Trinity, and Whiskeytown since 1929. Gerlinger Steel continues to expand with the demand for metals, fabrication services, industrial hardware and equipment. Our sales and delivery staff cover territory in the Northern, Central and Bay areas of California. We pre-process plate and structural metal to customer specifications and ship to locations throughout the West. Our metal working machinery sales serve customers from Canada to Southern California and east to the Rocky Mountains. The Sacramento location was added in the early 1990's when the company acquired the metal processing equipment and facility of "Sacramento Pipe Works". The late 90's to the present have brought the addition of more processing equipment for both plants. This allows us to better serve the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, as well as other West Coast locations, saving time and costs for our Customers. With the crossroads location of the Sacramento plant on I-80 and I-5, shipment of product and reasonable cost of transportation is readily available. Since the early 1980s inventories and machinery have also been adjusted to better supply the aggregate, industrial, agricultural, state, and other local area municipal needs. Large capacity shears, brakes, rolls, and flame cutting/HD plasma tables were acquired. Gerlinger Steel in Redding was established in 1929 when Fred Gerlinger Sr., with his son Bert, bought and rebuilt the burned out Foundry & Machine Shop that was in operation from 1906 to the mid 1920's. The Steel and Industrial Supply Division was added by purchasing the remainder of the McCormick Saeltzer "Big Store" inventory that was salvaged when the Store burned in the late 1930's.
The Nevada City location also was acquired in the late 1990's to supplement service to the Sierra foothills and our Used Machinery Services. Gerlinger Steel & Supply Company is still family operated and strives to serve customer needs better. |
